This colored drawing by EIPP President Don “Fossil Guy” Johnson shows “Laura the Juvenile Hypacrosaurus

(at center) during the Late Cretaceous Period about 75 million years ago.  At that time, Montana was a seasonal, semi-arid environment that supported a wide variety of plants and animals.  Laura is lingering too long drinking at river’s edge and is in danger of being eaten by a lunging Leidyosuchus, an alligatorid.  Besides Hypacrosaurus, the horn-faced Einiosaurus and feathered Bambiraptor are also pictured.  Other dinosaurs from that time include tyrannosaurs; and armored, bone-head, and bird-mimic dinosaurs.  Laura lived alongside pterosaurs, crocodilians, turtles, small mammals, and garpike to name a few.  Palm, sycamore, Ginkgo, Magnolia, fern and cattail are some of the plants from Laura’s world.  If you’re an artist who can produce a similar-themed professional painting, please click here to contact us.
