March 20 – 21, 2010: Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show at Teamsters Union Hall in Cedar Rapids

 

The theme for this year’s event is DINOSAURS!  A full-size 33’ replica of the great duckbill dinosaur Tsintaosaurus is on display.  EIPP Sponsors Bill Desmarais and Don Johnson present dinosaur programs at the show.  This event is sponsored by the Cedar Valley Rocks & Minerals Society.

 

March 26 – 28, 2010: MAPS Fossil Expo XXXII at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL

 

This is the largest fossil-only show in the world.  EIPP President Don Johnson sets up a dinosaur display and presents a program on Saturday titled “Laura the Hypacrosaurus & Other Duck-billed Dinosaurs.”

“Fossil Guy” Don Johnson presents another series of educational programs on Saturdays at 2pm at the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History.  The schedule is as follows…

July 10, 2010: Dubuque Cub Scouts Day Camp Program

 

This day camp is held at the Sundown Mountain Resort in Dubuque.  “Fossil Guy” Don Johnson presents a station at this day camp titled “You are what you eat – that includes Dinosaurs too!” and a closing program titled “Tyrannosaurus rex growing up!”

 

September 11 12, 2010: Dinosaurs at the Fairfield Gem & Mineral Show

 

The EIPP provides a dinosaur display at the Annual Gem & Mineral Show in Fairfield, IA this weekend hosted by the Sac & Fox Lapidary Club.  EIPP President Don Johnson presents a program titled “Laura the Hypacrosaurus & Other Duck-billed Dinosaurs” both days.

 

EIPP Annual Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2010

 

The Eastern Iowa Paleontology Project (EIPP) Board of Directors has its annual meeting at the Edgewater Grille Restaurant at the Coralville Marriott at 7pm.  2010-11 Board Members are elected and an update is given on Imagine8 involvement and partnership with Cycad Productions Ltd.

Saturday, November 5: "Bringing ‘Laura the Kid Dinosaur’ Back to Life!”

Saturday, November 12: “Feathered Dinosaurs Yesterday and Today”

Saturday, November 19:  “Chewing Up the Ice Age”

 

These programs are repeated the following day (Sunday) at 2pm at the Cedar Rapids Science Station in Lindale Mall.
